Join the Immigration & Nationality Law Section of the State Bar of Texas for an eye-opening journey at this pivotal moment in U.S.-Cuba relations. Our specially designed program will explore Cuba’s rich and varied cultural heritage and go beyond tourist corridors by engaging with local scholars, attorneys, entrepreneurs, musicians and artists who will offer in-depth commentary on the Cuban legal and political system, economics, art, history, architecture and religion.

Program Highlights
Day 1 – Friday, January 16
HAVANA
- Airport arrival and welcome lunch for early arrivals
- 4:00 PM: FROM EXCLUSION TO EXECUTIVE ORDERS: The Evolution of U.S. Immigration Law – Historical references including the Chinese Exclusion Act, post-9/11 security concerns, modern trends, and challenges to executive authority
- Evening: Private musical performance in Vedado with award-winning Cuban musicians
- Group Welcome Dinner
Day 2 – Saturday, January 17
HAVANA VIEJA
- Morning CLE: INTRODUCTION TO THE CUBAN LEGAL SYSTEM AND PRINCIPLES – Historical background from colonial heritage through constitutional reforms
- Walking tour of Havana Vieja including Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de San Francisco

- Afternoon CLE: CHALLENGES TO AGENCY DECISIONS after Lopez Bright and Corner Post
